Gosh it's quiet without him...

The Army has decided to take the hubs away for another 3 weeks. The sucky part is, is that he's here... he just can't come home at night. It's super-de-duper annoying :( I was really looking forward to him being able to come to my work Christmas party this year, and we still have to do pretty much all of our Christmas shopping... but thankfully he will be home before Christmas, so I guess the Army isn't on my sh*tlist YET!

I hate that he's been away more than he's been home lately, but it reminds me how thankful I am to have him. When he's here he drives me bananas with not rinsing his dishes, having to watch Two & a Half Men every night, his inability to stay our of the kitchen when I'm cooking, or leaving all the lights on... but when he's gone I miss all of those annoying things! Well, maybe not the dishes thing, because I've mentioned before how much food in my sink grosses me out! lol

Now it's time to count down the days until he's free from classes... and I get to look forward to visiters right after he's done! My mom & dad will be here right after Christmas! I'm excited. My dad & mom have only been to our new house once, and that was when we first closed on it, so they hasn't even gotten to see it with furniture or anything.

Fill In the Blank Friday

1.   Black Friday is ...too much for me! I don't like waking up early, and I get claustrophobic around large groups of people

2.  Christmas shopping this year will include ...being creative. My family has everything! I'm working on doing some home-made gifts, as well as some store bought because I am running out of ideas. lol

3.  Holiday shopping makes me ...broke! lol

4.  This year my Christmas list will include ...a new pair of Uggs since my toe is sticking out of my black ones, and a couple of new lenses for my camera. I'm dying for a fish eye & a macro!

5.  Bargain hunter, or full price shopper? ...bargain for sure! I hate paying full price for anything aside from groceries. Other than that, I try to catch things on sale.

6.  The best and worst things about shopping is ...best-making people happy... worst-spending all my money.

7.  Online shopper or in-person shopper? ...I love Amazon.com... but if I only buy clothes in stores.

Head on over & link up

I'm having PIE...

...FOR BREAKFAST! he he. We had two of the hubster's unmarried friends over for Thanksgiving, and there are only 2 pieces left, so I figured I better snag one before the hungry boys do! They had to go into work today, and they are beyond annoyed. I guess someone from their btry got a DWI last night, so now they all have to attend classes today. Sucks for them, but that means pie & a bath for me with no boys around on this rainy friday :D

Pie-in my belly
Bath-As soon as I update this...

I was almost done reading all of Kelsey's blog so I had to put my bath on hold. Check her out, she's a super cool Canadian :) (Remind me to tell ya'll one day about how my great-grandparents were illegal immigrants from Canada. bah ha ha ha!) Okay, puppies are all passed out, it's bath time :)

Happy Turkey Day

Wishing a happy Thanksgiving to all of my bloggy friends. This year was the first year that I cooked the whole meal all by myself. I got a little nervous because my stupid little red popper refuse to pop on the turkey, however once it got nice & brown I pulled it out and cut into it. It was cooked perfectly. I was really impressed with my turkey skills! So take that stupid red popper!

I sent the hubs off to play in the woods with two of his unmarried friends while I cooked in peace. lol. While they were gone, I got to read a few more blogs. I am slowly but surely reading all of the blogs I am following from start to finish. The hubs leaves for training again at the end of the month, so that will give me plenty of extra time to catch up on some more...

So without further ado, my accomplishments for the day... check them out :)

And these lovely ladies who don't have buttons yet :)

I have a secret...

... I'm addicted to tattoos, but shhhhh, don't tell!

If money was no object, I would probably have more than I have now. Plus, being a teacher kind of limits my being able to cover myself in them. I have 5 right now, but I am sure I will have many more once I get my car paid off & I have an extra $400/month :)

Here they are:

My First: "Tramp Stamp"
It says my name (Erin)... I got this one the day before my 18th birthday. I eventually got the stars recolored to blend in with my starry night tattoo (Number 3)

My Second: Left Ankle
My ankle is on the right... I got this one when I was 19 or 20 with my best friend at the time. Two years later we got in a huge fight because she moved down here to NC with me and never paid rent. We didnt talk for really long time. Then, one of our good friends passed away & we ended up going out and getting sh*tfaced after his wake on Jack Daniels (his fav) and that was pretty much the end of our fight.

My Third: Left Rib Cage
I've been obsessed with Van Gogh & Starry Night for as long as I can remember. I had the tattoo artist take the actual painting & trace it in the center of the stars. It will forever be my favorite piece of ink because it came out absolutely amazing.

Here's a close up:

My Fourth: Right lower back to right hip
It starts on my back...

...and winds around to my right hip!
It says "For with God... Nothing shall be impossible"

My Fifth: Right Rib Cage
Here is what it looked like when I first got it done... awful, I know. This is what happens when you're impatient & walk into a shop looking to get a tattoo that day. NEVER AGAIN.

Here it is after Frank (the artist who did my starry night stars) fixed it:
So much better! If you look closely, you can see the bruising all the way around the heart... I'm not going to lie, both my rib pieces have been by far more painful than anything else I've experienced. The tattoo gun hits your bone & literally rattles your ribs until you can't breathe!

What tattoos do you have? Post them on your blog then go on over to The Daisy Approach & link up.

She's got a straight-up way of writing her blog that I love... but beware, she's a little on the risque side... but in a good way ;)

My First Award

Thanks to Ms. Gris, I have my first blog award! Yay, go me!

So here are the rules: You have to tell 7 things about you, and then pass it on to 5 people. Easy, right?! Yep, sure is! So here I go...

1. I'm a talented writer... now, before you start saying your blog isn't that good, let me explain. I can write with my left hand, right hand, and with my feet. Yep, I said feet! I can also write any word forwards, backwards, and upside down. Weird, but true.

2. I'm addicted to oatmeal raisin cookie candles. They smell a-maz-ing! I get them from Kohls, and I seriously have way too many. I keep buying them because I'm afraid they'll stop making them as soon as I burn my last one (yes, I am completely irrational, but thats cool by me)

3. I am a TERRIBLE speller! My kiddos at school ask me how to spell things all the time, and I have to look the words up before I can answer them. Like Chihuahua! Why on earth would I know how to spell that one?! But now I always will thanks to my kiddos. Thankfully, I have a Macbook Pro, which underlines words when I spell them wrong, and my Crackberry does too! It gives me a sense of security. I would hate to be the teacher who makes a million spelling errors.

4. I hate doing dishes. I think it may be the worst chore on the planet even though I have a dishwasher! It just grosses me out to see any food in my sink.

5. I am a huge animal-lover, and if I could afford it, I would give money to every cause out there devoted to saving animals. One of these days, when we get a bigger house, I'd like to get a few more dogs, and more horses. lol (a girl can dream right?!)

6. I love ABC Family. I feel like such a loser watch Secret Life & Pretty Little Liars, but not enough to stop watching them of course! Plus all the cheezy movies! I can't get enough.

7. I have wayyyyy too many shoes. I really need to downsize, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Now I have to pass it on to 5 lovely bloggers... I wish I could pass it on to 50, but I will follow the rules :( So, in no particular order...

2. Abbey @ Trading Diamonds for Dog Tags (I just finished reading her blog & I suggest you go follow her!)
3. Stefanie @ Army Dogs

If you want a few giggles...

...Check out Stacy's blog. She's utterly hysterical & I am in love with her blog. I've read it from start to finish, laughing the whole way through. The way she pips in with her little side comments it great! A must read for sure :)

Thank God Friday has finally arrived. This seemed to be one of the longest weeks in a long time. Thankfully I only have to work 2 days next week & we are so very close to Turkey Day! I need to sit down and plan a menu soon so I can go out and get all of my last minute things. I was smart enough to get my turkey already, and have it defrosting in the fridge. Hopefully it defrosts in time. I have the fridge from h*ll! It freezes things no matter what setting it is on!! I might have to take the turkey out and let it thaw in the sink for a while to get the ball rolling on that.

Don't forget it's friday, which means that it is time for the MilSpouse Weekly Round-Up! If you're a fellow Mil-Significant-Other then head on over to Trading Diamonds for Dog Tags and link up!!

I think it's time for this week to be over!

My kids are wild! You can tell that a vacation is coming soon because they can't sit still, or seem to remember that what any of the class rules are! lol. This time of year seems to breeze by. Before you know it, it'll be January & we'll be halfway done with this year :)

Today I drove home with my mind reeling. I don't even remember the drive home because I was so busing thinking about all the things I have to accomplish coming up, and with the possibility of the hubs being gone again, it makes me even more worried about getting everything done. I'm thankful that my subconscious got me & my car home in one piece, but it can't be even remotely safe to drive like that! Has anyone ever had that happen? When you're thinking while you're driving and you don't remember half the drive that got you there?

To add to the brain-blip while driving, I get home & spent a good minute and a half trying to open the door to my house with my car keyless entry. I could not fathom for the life of me why my door wouldn't open.

I think my brain needs a serious rest!

1/2 through the week :)

{one} what time do you normally wake up?
6:40-6:50 and out of the house by 7:15. I hate waking up in the mornings, so anything to streamline my morning gets done the night before so I can pretty much get dressed and go

{two} do you have a go-to song for karaoke?
No one wants to hear me sing... but in college our karaoke song was Sweet Caroline

{three} if you could only see black and white except for one color, what color would you choose to see?
Green... I'm a country girl & pretty much everything outdoors is green... although I don't even really like the color, I just want to maximize my color seeing potentials. lol

{four} what color best matches your personality?
neon blue... I'm a pretty outgoing person in most situations & tend to clique with other loud personalities, but I think blue is the tamest of the neon colors

{five} if you could choose one meal to cook better than anyone else, what would it be?
I'm a pretty good cook, but I am a terrible baker... so I would probably pick a cool pastry... maybe a cannoli?

{six} how many keys do you have on your key ring?
Which key ring? lol... Home-just my car & two house keys... Work-Classroom, Staff Bathroom, Desk, Filing Cabinet, Computer Cart & Closet!

{seven} do you give your pets birthday/christmas gifts?
Not birthdays. We only know Miley's birthdate for sure. They do get Christmas presents though :)

{eight} when your plate has different foods on it, do you mix or not?
Depends on the food. Normally I work my way around my plate. I eat whatever I like the least first & my favorite thing on my plate last because I'm a total weirdo... but if I have mashed potatoes & a vegetable, then there is a good chance it's getting mixed!

{nine} if you could hire someone to do one thing for you all the time, what would it be?
Do my school paperwork... all my lesson plans (that are a waste of my life b/c I never follow them), grade my papers, and do all my other annoying paperwork... then I could actually TEACH!

{ten} when flying, do you prefer the window or aisle seat?
Window if I'm flying with someone I know, aisle if I'm not. I hate climbing over people!

Hi ho, Hi ho, it's off to school (he) go(es)...

If you've been following my bloggity-blog then you'll remember that my darling hubster just got back after a month at airborne school... Well in 2 weeks he is off to school again! Although I'm kind of miffed that he's off to school again so soon, I'm glad we're getting this all out of the way now. He should be "home" about a week before Christmas, so it's not terrible. He'll actually be right here at Bragg, but because the school goes 0500-2100 seven days a week, they're not allowed to come home at night.

Yep, you read that correctly. I said FREE... as in free Christmas cards. It's easy & you can do it too! Just head on over to Shutterfly & fill in this form. Then all you have to do is wait for the email, and write a blog picking your favorite cards. Easy, right?! I thought so too!

This year I was really excited about doing Christmas cards with the hubby because he was deployed last year. I didnt put up a tree, or decorate. I just wasnt in the mood to do all that for just me. This year we've already started talking about where to put the Christmas tree, and which decorations to get. I'm very thankful to have him to help me address Christmas cards this year.

I have family scattered all over the continental US, and I don't get to see them very often, especially since I've been in NC. The Shutterfly designs I liked the most offered spots for multiple pictures. This way I can showcase a few pictures to my family members all on one card. I can not wait to get these cards started & sent out. I think everyone is going to be very pleasantly surprised when they find these in their mailbox.

Let me know which one you like the best & help me narrow it down. I love them all so much that I don't think I can do it on my own!

Check out all of their Christmas Goodies HERE & HERE

This one is my favorite... I think. lol. Polar Bears are one of my favorite animals!

I think I'm also going to start a photobook as a gift for my hubster since I don't have time to scrapbook, and my mom has been asking for some pictures of us & the pups, so I might make her a calendar with my very own pictures on it :)

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?
Um... I'll probably sound like a wimp, but getting my wisdom teeth out. I had to have them cut out from pretty deeply, and it sucked. I would wake up sobbing when my pain medication wore off for weeks after getting it done. It def isnt supposed to be that painful!

2. How much sleep do you get at night?
6-7 hrs if I'm lucky. I have a hard time staying asleep after the hubster's alarm goes off in the morning.. or if the furkids want to go outside

3. How long did you believe in Santa Claus? How did you find out that he does not exist?
Maybe like 5th grade? Mom's handwriting, plus seeing the presents = fantasy over. lol

4. What was the last movie you saw in a theater?
Either the Last Song, or Eclipse. Not sure which. I saw them both a few times this summer. I'm a big loser, I know. But at least I can admit it!

5. What do you wear to bed?
Depends how cold it is. Lately it's been sweatpants & a t-shirt.

Go link up & join the fun :)

Vanilla Soy Milk

I buy soy milk because it lasts forever (Really! The expiration dates are like 2 months later!) I have 3 kinds of Soy milk currently in my fridge. Chocolate, because it's super yummy! Vanilla, because I like it in my cereal. Regular, to cook with.

Today I let the hubster cook dinner. I've had to cook for myself for the last month, and now that he's home with jump wings, I decided to let him go ahead and cook, against my better judgement. I'm really anal about who I let cook for me... My mom, my dad, and my maternal grandmother... that's about it. The hubs has only cooked for me a handful of times, and the last time I let him cook for me, he made me breakfast. He was shocked that I had never had Biscuits & Sausage Gravy. Not easy to screw up, right? Well, instead of adding FLOUR to the gravy, he accidently grabbed my canister of CONFECTIONARY SUGAR. Needless to say, it was DISGUSTING, and I have since labeled all my canisters! Aside from grilling, he hasn't been allowed to cook since then. lol.

For dinner he made steak & Au Gratin potatoes. Again, not easy to screw that up, right?... Well, he didn't read, and we ended up with vanilla soy milk in our potatoes. I choked down a few bites before I figured out why they tasted funny. He's been eating MRE's for the past month, so he said he didn't even notice. lol. They were pretty gross! Needless to say, he is back to being banished as the grillmaster, and thats it!

Let's Talk!

I've been getting lots of comments from my lovely bloggy friends, but some of you don't have your e-mail set so that I can reply. I like to reply directly back from the email I get in my inbox when one of you lovely ladies comment. This way, you don't have to come back to my blog & check the comments to see if I replied. I was going to type out "how to" directions to this, but then I found this blog posted by JG over @ Me & My Soldierman, and since I've been reading (and loving) her blog, I figured I'd send ya'll her way. This way you can find out how to change your settings so that I can email you back (which is usually pretty quickly b/c it gets sent right to my crackberry) AND she can get new followers if any of you haven't started following her yet. It's a win-win!

I am loving my new blog! It's too cute! I sent her a bunch of pictures for the header, and she happened to put those 3 together. Perfect, right?!

Plus she's really easy to work with, and listens to your ideas. She asked lots of questions to make sure I got the blog I wanted. There was one thing I wanted to change, and within minutes, she came back with solutions to make sure it was exactly what I liked!

I was lucky enough to stumble across a blog posted by Brea at Utterly Chaotic giving away FREE blog makeovers while I was reading her story about her soldier & her two cute kiddos!  Of course I jumped right on it! Now, I have a gorgeous layout that I am head over heels for.

Don't be jealous though! You can ask Brea to do a custom layout for you too! Go to her page & click on Design. There you will find her design packages (or you can just get single items). Now that she's got some practice under her belt she's charging for layouts (totally reasonable prices!). If you act right now you can get a 20% discount on layouts  or 25% for military!

Today is going to be a good day :)

Good Morning (almost afternoon depending on your time zone) Bloggy Friends!

I have a feeling today is going to be a great day :)

1. Because Brea @ Utterly Chaotic is working on my new and improved blog layout today!

2. Hubby will be home TODAY! (Suck it mother nature! You tried to swamp GA with storms, but I win, you lose!)

3. I am going to be going to a jewelry party today hosted by one of my fellow 5th grade teachers, and she is an amazing cook, so I am excited about all her yummy treats... To the point where I'm almost salivating as I think of the things she made for last time. (Maybe I should have eaten breakfast, but I know I'll eat a lot there, and I want to save all of my calories for her cheesy potatoes!)

4. Did I mention that my hubby will be home?!?! (Obnoxious, I know!)

5. I've already gotten my lesson plans done, so I don't have anything I HAVE to so today!

6. I finished another great blog today :)

(Your button wasnt cooperating. lol)
She's a Yankee (like me!) who decided she wanted to be a Southern Belle (like me!) so she found a teaching job after college below the Mason-Dixon line (like me!). There she met her Army Hubby at a bar (like me!) and now they're spending there first year apart (like me!)... are you seeing a trend here?! LOL.

Dixie & Mommy Time

I promise this will be my last post for today (I only have to wait 40 more minutes until today is over. he he) but my reality TV addiction has been on for the past 2 hours, so I can't sleep yet. I am 100% addicted to Pitbulls & Parolees! I watch the same episodes over & over again... and sob my eyes every time a dog is rescued/adopted out.

Rescue dogs in general get me, but the fact that these are pitbulls that are getting a second chance is amazing. I want to donate all of my time & money to her cause. Hopefully this show will show more & more people that pitbulls are only vicious if you make them that way.

I make Dixie (my pit) watch the show with me every time it's on, and I love when she cocks her big giant pitbull head to the side when the dogs on the show start barking. She's the biggest love-bug EVER!

How can you not love that (big scary) pitbull face :)
