Friday Fill In

1. Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook. I have a twitter but I've used it all of twice.
2. Hard Tacos or Soft Tacos?
Hard. I dont care for flour tortillas unless they're flavored for a wrap like spinach or tomato
3. Gardening or crafting?
Crafting for sure! I want a garden, but I have a few little furcritters who LOVE vegetables and would eat them all up. I'm hoping to get the hubs to fence me off a section of the backyard before he deploys next spring
4. Fruit or vegetables?
Vegetables. I went to the farmer's market yesterday & I only wanted veggies.
5.  Motorcycle or bicycle?
My dad brought my bike! I'm super excited for it to cool down a little so that I can ride it... I do like riding motorcycles too :D

My parents are here! yay! I'm super excited to get to spend time with them... too bad the hubs only got to spend 2 hrs with them before he had to go out to the field for the rest of their time here :(

Custom Fanblades

My friend from work asked me to paint fan blades for her 4 year old daughter's HOT PINK room. Since the color is already intense, she didnt want a gaudy fan, but she wanted something pretty. She also didnt want anything too "kidish" so that it could grow with her.

She asked for pink and yellow flowers, and this is what I came up with... each fan blade is different :)

All put together. She LOVES it, and I guess that's all that matters :)

Wee #51

{one} what is your dream job?
Owning a huge horse farm/cattle ranch

{two} how many best friends do you have?
a few from different circles. I'm so glad God has blessed me with great people in my life

{three} what’s the longest road trip you’ve ever taken?
NC to MI

{four} if you had to do one single thing every day for the next year, what would it be?
Work with horses

{five} what’s one story your family always tells about you?
When I was 3 I told my mom I had to go to the bathroom. We were at the beach so she told me to go out in the water & go. Well, she didnt realize I had to go #2. I walked out to my ankles, pulled my pants down, and poo'd right there in the waves. It kept washing back to shore, so my mom had to pick it up.

{six} how did your parents pick your name?
I was going to be jessica, but I have a cousin named Jessica, so they had to pick something different. My dad apparently didnt think I was going to be much of a brainiac b/c he picked a short name so that I wouldnt have any trouble spelling it ;)

{seven} what’s the one thing that scares you more than anything?

{eight} are you a good cook?
For the most part. I'm not very good at cooking fish, but other than that I think I'm a good cook

{nine} where do you see yourself in 20 years?
Living on a ranch

{ten} what’s your best childhood memory?
Oh geeze. I have too many. Most of them have to do with playing in the woods with my sister & cousin

Hay is for HORSES :)

I mentioned yesterday that I had quite a horsey adventure yesterday. If you've been reading with me for a while, you know that our older horse has Cushings Syndrome, which causes her to have all sorts of health problems, including being super skinny along her back near her spine. A few weeks ago, I noticed that our other horse, who has no health problems to our knowledge, has been looking skinny as well. I finally decided that I wanted to move them someplace closer to us where I can feed them myself and make sure they're getting what they need. Come to find out, the person we had them with is going through some VERY hard times, and he wasnt caring for them the way he should have, but I understand that things come up in our lives, so it got my butt in gear and I found a great place to keep the horses that is only a few miles from my house. I'm able to feed them both daily, and make sure Illusion is getting her  Cushing's meds (ever try giving meds to a horse? It's NOT fun. lol. My hubs keeps trying to convince me to give them to her rectally. lmao!). I am in such an amazing mood today after going out there both this morning and this afternoon to feed them. I didnt realize how much I missed working with them until now. They've got great personalities and it is too funny to watch them fight over food, and sit at the food buckets as soon as they see my car. Hopefully soon I will be able to get weight back on them and get them looking good as new :)

Here are a few pics of them in their brand new home :D

New next door neighbor

This WHOLE pasture all the way to the fence is all theirs :)

Standing by the gate b/c they are fatties who want me to give them more food

Hey mommy... can I eat your camera?

Illusion our old momma. She's oh so skinny :(

Gilly checking to make sure she didnt miss any food! lol

Bothering the other horses in the next pasture. They were mad b/c I was feeding mine & not them. lol

You wont ever see them in the pasture more than a few feet apart. They're BFFs

See those big holes in my knees? Illusion managed to spit a HUGE mouthful of feed into that hole & it got trapped in my pantleg. It was pretty talented.

Neighbors on the other side... check out that HUGE papa of a draft horse!

Tea Light Candle Holder

I'm beyond exhausted from a full day of moving the horses so this won't be a long post, but I wanted to share a little bit of my craftiness with y'all before I pass out. I'll post hopefully tomorrow about our horsie adventure. They're spending their first night in their new home and I couldnt be more excited with it.

I ran across THIS blog post & I am loving all her craftiness. She does quite a few CHEAP & EASY crafts, and I am going to have to try a few more of her super cute ideas. Hopefully later this week I will be posting a new spin on another one of her projects that I LOOOOOVE. Y'all will have to wait for the link to that one because I am not ruining the surprise. Here are some pictures to show what I did :)

Bought these for $1 each at the dollar store

Glued them together

I've had these shells from Clearwater Beach FL in this jar for years... it was time for them to meet their new home

Poured in all the sand & added the shells...

I added a tan candle and stuck it in my bathroom, but I am too lazy to get my camera out and take another picture. I think it's beyond cute and it only cost me $2 because I already had the shells. I'm thinking I might make a few more and fill them with other fun things :D

Sowwwwwy :(

Thanks to all of my followers who have stuck around while I've been MIA for the past two weeks. I promise I'll make up for it b/c I have quite a few things to post about :) I'd like to say that I have a really good reason for being missing so long, but alas, all I have to say for myself is that I've been soaking up every possible second with the hubs over the last two weeks. They've been canceling things left and right around his unit, and increasing the number of field activities. He's also heard from a very close friend of his (who happens to be a 1st sgt) that deployment talks are in full force, and that his friend expects orders to Afghanistan very soon... most likely before Christmas. The unit he's currently with has not been stateside for more than 14 months at least 10yrs, and the end of this month marks 12 months since they returned from Iraq.
The past two weeks have been block leave for the hubs, and he forced me into promising no computer, no books, just spending time with him. Meanie! lol. I did manage to sneak two books in over the past two weeks, but shhhh don't tell! ha.
July 2nd block leave started... for us, that meant a 14hr drive to Michigan, where we kidnapped his grandparents, and drove 14hrs again on Sunday back to North Carolina. We spent the week showing them all around and even saw Charlie Daniels, and Little Big Town for free on the 4th of July. We were actually sitting less than 5ft from LBT's tour bus, but didnt even realize it until they got off. The following weekend we made the 14hr trip again TWICE to bring the grandparents back. I am hoping to not have to make that trip again any time soon, but with deployment rumors running ramped, we might have to make another trip before he ships out.
This past week we went fishing, hung out with some friends, and relaxed. It was some much needed time together for us. Lately he's been hating his job so much that all we do is fight. I guess that's what happens when 2 hard headed people get married. He comes home grumpy, takes it out on me, and I in turn act like a total ass back to him, just because he started it. lol. Thankfully, things have been going much better and we even survived all that driving without any real fighting.
Now it's time to do a million and one things that I've been putting off for the past two weeks. Don't worry, I will be around a lot more coming up. Promise :) For now, I will leave you with some pics from our last two weeks. Enjoy.

Friday Fill In

1Have you (spouse) ever considered joining the military and what do you think of dual military couples? submitted by Project Army Wife
Dual military-No... joining the military-yes. When I was little, I wanted to be an air force pilot. I have better than perfect vision, and I now have a college degree, so it's totally doable. I come from a family full of tons of different branches of military. However, my parents did pay quite a bit of money for me to become a teacher, so I think I owe it to them to stay at this job for a while... however, it is oh so tempting to go to officer school, and totally pull the I outrank you card on the hubs.
2. What is your idea of a perfect Sunday afternoon? submitted by A Few of My Favorite Things
Sleeping late, reading my book, catching up on blogs, and sitting out side with a glass of wine once it's not 100 degrees
3. What do you usually do for the 4th of July holiday?  submitted by Anchor’s Away
It used to always be going to see fireworks with family and friends. I have a vivid memory of one 4th when we were stuck in terrible traffic trying to leave the fireworks. My dad, who had one too many adult beverages while waiting for the show to begin, gets out of the car and walks down to the road. He stops traffic in both directions and starts waving people out of the parking lot. Once my mom has made it to the main road, he hops back in the car, and away we go. People were pissed, but if it was me, I would have just laughed it off. I mean, my dad is normally HYSTERICAL when he's had a few beers, but this was extra awesome. Since I've been in NC though, I dont think I've seen fireworks more than once? Two years ago the hubs had CQ, so his buddies got together some cash, and paid someone to take it for him. We ended up sitting around the lake, but no fireworks... the year after that he was deployed, and I went to see the concert on Post. This year we will be driving back from Michigan with his grandparents in tow.
4. If they could make an Olympic event JUST for you that you know you’d medal in, what would it be? submitted by Pants are Confusing
Hmmm... I'm GOOD at a lot of things, but I don't know how many things I am GREAT enough to medal in there are... Maybe hoarding school supplies? lol. It's lame, but I seriously hoard school supplies... and anything I THINK I can use at school
5.  What have you been doing to get yourself bathing suit ready for the summer? submitted by Not Just an Army Wife
Not a damn thing. lol. I say all the time that I am going to work out, but I seriously never do... I have cut back on pasta, and I've been using smaller dishes, so that I don't eat as much. Both have helped.
