Homemade Pretzels

I made these pretzels over the weekend and they turned out great. The best part is that you can freeze them and take them out whenever you want for an afternoon snack. The not so great part is that I realized I will NEVER have a future making pretzels. I couldn't make a nice looking one to save my life... They may look absolutely horrid, but they sure taste good!

 Demented pretzel anyone?!

I was being so productive...

...until I touched my computer! lol

There is a guy in my hubster's battery that got busted taking synthetic heroine (Eeek) so now he's on 24/7 watch until he's dismissed from the Army and sent off to jail. The person guarding him has to be an NCO, and since there are very few NCO's in his btry, they've been having to pull duty 1-2 times per week. He has to sit there all day/night and make sure this kid doesnt do heroine. Sounds like a super fun time, right? lol

Anywho... I woke up with him around 7:30 since his duty is 9am-9am and once he was out of the house I was on a roll. I dusted my bedroom and the living room, fed the horses, cleaned the shower in our bathroom, did 2 loads of laundry, ran the dishwasher, cleaned off most of the junk my husband has collected on our wine rack & dusted it, swept up all the feathers that were hiding under my bed from the down comforter that my rotten pitbull chewed a hole in, cleaned off our dresser, got all the spare change into the change jar, and made lunch... then I found a bill from the water company that I had forgotten to pay. Its due on the 10th, and there is a TEN DOLLAR late fee! Seems a bit outrageous to me that my $17.50 water bill jumps up to $27.50 for being late. Thats almost 50%! Sheesh! So I quickly jumped online to pay it, and it all went downhill from there! lol

Now that I've got the laptop in my hands, its only natural that I have to stalk blogger! lol. I'm going to at least try to continue to be productive and sew the hole in my hubsters shorts while I read ;)

And on a side note, I have a super funny story about feeding my horses this morning. I had just thrown their feed into the buckets, and they were happily munching away. I've had a wicked sinus infection, so while I was standing there I went to blow my nose. Apparently Gilly didn't like the sound of me blowing my nose, because she pulled her head out of her bucket and tried to bite me in the back of the head. Thankfully all she got was hair... and I was blessed with a huge glob of half chewed feed from my ear down my neck. lol. Silly critter. At least now I know she doesnt like that sound!

Here is a pic I took the other day of the two naughty critters. Rebel (who feels the need to chew up all of my hubs clothes that are on the floor) and Gilly, the anti-nose blower. Maybe they're using some sort of telepathy to plot how to torture me. lol. In actuality, he's just watching her. Out of my 4 dogs, he loves the horses the most. He thinks they're the greatest thing since sliced bread and follows them wherever they go... however they don't feel the same about him ;)

Dear Yankees,

I am BEYOND jealous of all of y'all posting about your apple picking adventures. I miss the trip to the apple orchard every fall... leaving with a whole bushel of apples for next to nothing... and apple cider donuts straight out of the fryer. Yumm. I'd pay $100 for a dozen fresh apple cider donuts right now :(

Dear NC, why do you have to have the wrong climate for apple orchards?! Wahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Sincerely, a homesick Yankee :(

Be prepared to tear up... An animal "Miracle"

Starving Dog Survives Jump From Third Story Window

puppy jumps out window

Demonstrating the remarkable spirit of animals, a starving dog left in an abandoned apartment for two month jumped from a third-story window in a desparate attempt to find food. Amazingly, the tenacious dog survived the fall and even helped rescue a puppy still locked inside.
A Karmic Moment for Miracle & Gracie
The one-year-old Pit bull mix, now named 'Miracle' and afour-month-old puppy, now named 'Gracie,' were apparently abandoned by their owners in a New Bedford, MA apartment for nearly two months. Emaciated Miracle made a courageous leap for help by diving out of a third story window and karmically at that exact moment, a police officer pulled to the curb outside the residence to stop a car. The officer looked up and saw the painfully thin dog jump.
Article-2045893-0E412ACE00000578-149_634x337Miracle broke her hip and hind leg in the fall, but the officer was there to immediately help her.
Miracle’s amazing leap led Animal Control officers inside the apartment where they found malnourished pup Gracie hanging onto life and too weak to stand.
No food was found in the filthy apartment, but the dogs had managed to survive on a “water source” they found.  Animal control officers say when they got into the flat, they found it flea-infested and with feces all over the floor.
The Road to Recovery
Both dogs are receiving emergency care and surgeons successfully repaired Miracle's broken hip and hind leg, but she will require ongoing monitoring in addition to a special feeding program to address the effects of malnutrition. Little Gracie is now eating and her electrolyte levels are sound according to reports.
This horrible neglect of innocent animals constitutes felony cruelty against an animal -- to report any information that might help bring the !#*%#@! person(s) responsible to justice, visit New Bedford Animal Control to obtain contact information.

Have y'all seen THIS site

I've read through quite a few entries, and it's beyond depressing. What has happened to our country that was a supposed super power? So many people living pay-check to pay-check. So many people losing their homes. It's beyond terrible.

We don't live pay-check to pay-check, but we don't have much left over each month because of our investment in our land. For the past 4 years, NC has been on a pay freeze. I'm paid as a second year teacher even though this is my fifth year. It stinks a whole lots that I should be making hundreds of dollars more each month, but I'm glad I have a job that helps provide a second income for the hubs and I. Its given us to the ability to take in 4 dogs, and 2 horses who needed homes.

I'm thankful that my hubs has a steady paycheck from Uncle Sam. I'm also super thankful that he is getting a nice little raise this month. While my job is decided each year by the budget, I'm glad that my husband will not be laid off any time soon.

If you haven't checked out that tumblr account, you should. Its intense.
